The answer is that there isn’t just one “best” time to visit Xcalak. The best time to come always depends on your priorities – whether you’re looking for the perfect weather conditions or a specific target species to fish.
In terms of fishing HERE you will find the detailed fishing period of major activity but of course weather conditions may determine your fishing journey.
There are mainly three different season in Xcalak: Dry, wet and hurricane.
DRY SEASON
November to April
WET SEASON
May to October
You can still expect sunny days, but passing clouds may drop huge amounts of rain in a short time. Apart of these possible rains days offer chances to catch big permits or even accomplish a Grand Slam.
Wind blow with less intensity until October.
Temp range between 73-93 ºF (24-32ºC)
HURRICANE SEASON
July to October
Generally this period runs from July to October but September and October being the most likely hurricane-months when you have to expect clouds, wind and rains.
If you are looking for the big migratory tarpons, June and July may be the best time but keep in mind the weather conditions could sometimes difficult your odds.
